General Obi-Wan Kenobi

One of the greatest generals of the Clone War

As he was during the Clone Wars, stats seen in the Saga Edition web exclusives before the WotC Site took them down. The changes I made were a) to put back the level of Jedi Master they took away from the Core Book version when they did the web version and b) added some fluff text for my campaign.

*Obi-Wan Kenobi is considered to have fulfilled the Education destiny (see page 114 of the Saga Edition core rulebook)

Although not the most powerful Jedi of the Republic during the Clone Wars, Obi-Wan Kenobi is the hero responsible for defeating the Sith known as Darth Maul and; most famously, the duel against General Grievous that for all intents-and-purposes ended the Clone Wars.

The general public considered him one of the greatest generals of the Clone War. As one of only two High Generals (alongside Mace Windu), General Kenobi was responsible for much of the Republic’s success during the war (from training to logistical innovations, to personally leading assaults). His keen instincts, quiet leadership and mastery of the Soresu form of lightsaber combat served him well and turned the tide of many battles thought to be lost.

Although he disliked flying, Obi-Wan was a very capable pilot and was known to use a jet pack when it suited his needs. With or without the jet pack, the Jedi was known to use the tactic of dropping in the middle of his enemies to take them off guard and to gain the advantage of surprise. He used this tactic at the start of his final fight against the cyborg leader of the Separatist, General Grievous.

During the Clone Wars, Obi-Wan wore armor into battle not only for protection but to identify with the clone troopers he led. He did not see his troops as disposable pieces to be thrown into battle, but treated them with respect and listened to their advice while making battle plans. This respect was mutual and the clones under his command served him well. General Kenobi was killed at the Battle of Utapau. Most believe that he was not struck down in battle, but was murdered by his own clone troopers as part of the Jedi Purge at the Emperor’s order.

General Kenobi was one of the most popular Jedi of his day; even when general public opinion ran against the Jedi as a whole, many in the Galaxy would refuse to believe that Kenobi was a traitor to the Republic. There are rumors that Darth Vader still seeks him and that he survived the Jedi Purge; that he’s in hiding somewhere in the Outer Rim. Depending on the politics of the speaker, rumors of General Kenobi span a wide range. At one end of the spectrum; he’s a coward hiding from the Empire so he can pursue an illicit love affair that he was not allowed to have when he was a Jedi. At the other extreme; he’s biding his time training an army, and waiting for the fires of Rebellion to flare and return to lead the armies on a great campaign to restore the Old Republic.
